The steam tug Roosevelt of 1905, was Admiral Peary’s Arctic flagship in 1909; she is seen here in 1934.

The steamer Virginia V of 1922, is seen after her 1934 rebuild at Lake Washington Shipyard.

Volume one of the NORTHWEST LEGACY series, Sail, Steam And Motorships, is available now in a high quality hardback. Of 224 pages, it contains 250 stunning never before published photographs spanning the Pacific Coast from Oregon to Alaska, including Puget Sound and British Columbia. Walk on decks and explore engine rooms and wheelhouses of such historic vessels as the C.S. Holmes, C.A. Thayer, Wanderer, Roosevelt, San Mateo, Arthur Foss, F.E. Lovejoy, Virgina V, Kalakala, Master, Princess Marguerite, and Portland. A descriptive text recounts the last of commercial sailing ships, the passenger and freight steamers of the mosquito fleet, the tugs and barges, steamships and other vessels that are part of the Northwest Legacy.
Note: Less than 100 copies of Northwest Legacy remain. The final remaining copies will all be author signed and numbered.

The Hall Bros. built steam tug Wanderer
of 1890, is at Lake Union Dry-dock in Seattle, 1933.

The downeaster Elwell of 1875, is seen just before departing for Alaska, in 1916.

Northwest Legacy author, Jeremy Snapp has sailed on many vessels along the Pacific coast since he was about six years old. For over twenty years he fished commercially and worked in boatyards in Alaska and Washington, and has built over 40 traditional wood boats. Today the author, a licensed captain, occasionally charters his 80 ft. 1913 schooner, packs salmon in season, and is still active in boatbuilding.
